Who we are
Norton & Quay Tax Law is a specialist taxation law practice based in Sydney, New South Wales. This policy explains how we handle personal information, consistently with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
Through this website we collect only the information you choose to give us: your name, email address, telephone number if you provide it, and whatever you write in your enquiry. We do not require you to identify yourself in order to browse the site.
In the course of acting on a matter we may collect further personal and financial information necessary to provide legal services, including information about your affairs and the affairs of related entities.
Why we collect it
To respond to enquiries, to carry out conflict checks, to provide legal services, to comply with our professional and statutory obligations, and to maintain our records.
Disclosure
We do not sell personal information. We disclose it only where necessary to provide the services you have engaged us for, where you have consented, or where required or authorised by law. That may include disclosure to the Australian Taxation Office, Revenue NSW, courts and tribunals, counsel, and other professional advisers involved in your matter.
Confidentiality and privilege
Information provided in the course of a legal engagement is subject to our professional duty of confidentiality, and communications for the dominant purpose of legal advice are generally subject to legal professional privilege. An enquiry made through this website, before a retainer is in place, may not attract the same protection. If a matter is sensitive, contact us by telephone before sending detail.
Cookies and analytics
This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies of its own. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google receives a request from your browser including your IP address. Where we use web analytics, it is configured to measure aggregate site usage rather than to identify individuals.
Storage and security
Records are held in Australia in access-controlled systems. We retain client files for the period required by our professional obligations and then dispose of them securely.
Access, correction and complaints
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Contact us at arda@nortonquaytaxlaw.com.au. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
